The Holidays and Your Roof… What’s the Connection?

First of all… Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all who read this blog!

What do the Holidays have to do with your roof? – A couple of things…

First… Didn’t you know that Santa and his reindeer-powered-sleigh land on your rooftop every year? This can cause minor damage to any roof, whether Tile, Shingle or even Metal! This is a perfect time of year to inspect, while things are dry and cool – the perfect time of year to look things over! We can even clean up after those pesky reindeer!

But seriously… Did you, like many people, hang lights from the edges of your roof? Did you hang lights from your gutters? Did you put Decorations on the roof top? Maybe, just maybe, you went as far as pulling a Clark Griswold and decided to install lights all over the roof surface?! If you did any of the above, make sure you have us come out and look things over after the season ends!  We need to insure that no damage was done. We’ll even do it free of charge if you ask nicely! Consider this our Christmas Present to you – a complimentary roof inspection report! It is the least we can do for anyone who takes the time to read our blog site.

Let us know if we can help you in any way – we are SW Florida’s premier Problem Solvers!

#5: The Truth About Tile Roofing

Tile Roofing

This is the 5th installment of “Ten Things About Roofing You May Not Know!which you can download as a free eBook.

Besides being beautiful, tile roofing can be a practical choice for your home. Professionally designed and installed tile roofs can last 25-35 years when properly installed, and many tile manufacturers provide a long warranty on the material. As with most anything, there are also some disadvantages to installing a tile roof.

Unlike some roofing options, a tile will not rot in Florida’s wet summers. It’s also not susceptible to pest damage. Compared to a shingle roof, both concrete or clay tiles will have a longer lifespan, so it can be a cost-effective solution if you consider the entire life of your roof.

However, tile does cost more than wood shakes or asphalt shingles. There is also the maintenance factor to be considered. Tile Roofs require far more maintenance than your average sloped roof material. First of all, you will find that they require periodic cleaning due to their susceptible nature to mildew.

Also, you will want to check at least annually for any broken tile. Once a tile on your roof breaks, any high winds that come along can breach the system and “bye-bye” tile!

Learn About Naples Roofing

Learn About Naples Roofing - Collier County Roofing

Every time I think I’ve learned every thing there is to know about a particular subject, life has a way of reminding me that I don’t know as much as I think I do. I am reminded that I’m still a student of life…and although I don’t profess to know everything there is to know about the business of roofing, I enjoy sharing my knowledge with you.

My company, West Coast FL Enterprises has put a roof over the head of many residents and businesses of Southwest Florida since 1985. In 2008, we realized the need to open a new division to handle Collier County, so we named it (you guessed it!) Collier County Roofing! Why do I tell you all of this? For two reasons:
