5: DON’T Let Roofing Costs Be Your Only Consideration

List of References

This is the 5th installment of  Do’s and Don’ts of Roofing – For YOU the Consumer!” which is available as a FREE download.

Often, the best roofers are in such high demand that they don’t have to consider price competition. The incentive to hire this roofer is not the roofing cost, but the quality of work and peace of mind. However, another incentive may be an agreement to work with you down the road if you experience any problems with your roof.

If you drive too hard of a bargain with your roofer, you may be sacrificing quality of workmanship or materials. Considering that your safety, well being, the security of your belongings, and your basic human need for shelter is at stake…saving a few dollars is not worth the sacrifice of a quality roof, which is why roofing costs shouldn’t be your only consideration.

Check References

Dos and Donts of Roofing - For YOU the ConsumerA legitimate, quality roofer should be able to provide you with a list of references for previous jobs that their company has done. Take the time to follow up with these references. There is no better source to consider than someone who has worked with the company first hand, and is literally, “living under their roof”. You may even want to ask “neighbors” of their references and how they were treated.

  1. Hiring a roofing company with a labor warranty like you stated is KEY! Roofs are such an intricate system to your home! You need a contractor who can guarantee that their labor is quality, so that if something does go wrong, they at least will come and fix it.

  2. Today finding a efficient roofing contractor is difficult and easy at the same time. It depends on your knowledge how you approach any contractor. Thanks for this great post hoping more in future!
